Aveyron, by the beauty of its landscapes and its preserved natural sites is a small paradise for walking and cycling, with family or friends. This vast department, the 6th in France for its surface area, offers very contrasting landscapes between the North and the South Aveyron, a great playground with many walks and hiking circuits.
This countryside, with its deep forests, its lakes and rivers, its beautiful viewpoints is to be discovered with your family or in a club with your sports friends.
It's a different way to discover our territory, land of bastides and lakes, to meet the most beautiful villages of France, while taking a breath of fresh air in the middle of nature.
7 hiking trails (maps available at the reception) are accessible by mountain bike around your campsite. But don't hesitate either, to leave by road bike, and while passing through our countryside to join the Lake of Pareloup or the valley of the Tarn.
Tip for beginners
Here are some common sense tips.
The first condition is to have a bike in good condition and if possible of quality!
Prepare your bike.
It's a good idea to check the brakes, lighting, gears and tyres of your bike (inflate them well). Do not hesitate to have it checked by a professional.
If you ride on the road, pay attention to the minimum mandatory equipment, namely for the bike: brakes (front and rear), lights (active and passive), a horn, for the cyclist: a helmet and a reflective vest.
Prefer an all-terrain bike (VTC) which is often better equipped, especially if you are going away for a few days.
Don't forget to take with you a small repair kit: puncture equipment and multifunction tool and 2 inner tubes, multifunction tool, pump, an anti-theft device if you need to stop.
Prepare your hike.
Before leaving, remember to take with you enough drinks and energy bars to avoid fatigue and dehydration.
Sunglasses and sunscreen to protect yourself will sometimes be necessary. If you are going for half a day or a day, consider gloves, cycling shoes and shorts. Don't forget rain gear and a fleece for the evening in case of a late return. We are at more than 700m of altitude... The evenings are sometimes cool.
